Welcome to our August blog

Welcome to our August blog

It has been another eventful month at Stroud Road Vets, so here is an update of some of the things we have been up to!

This month, we have introduced our free nurse-led puppy clinics, run by Nikki. These clinics are a great opportunity to monitor puppy growth and development, discuss any questions you may have and help your puppies build confidence with a positive veterinary experience to ensure future visits can run smoothly. Each appointment includes a health check, guidance on nutrition, preventative dental care, as well as advice tailored to each puppy’s individual needs.

Our continued support for Katkinz Charity has kept us busy this month, with many neutering days and kitten check-ups taking place at the practice. The charity does amazing work caring for the cats and kittens in their care, but they are currently overwhelmed with many kittens needing new homes.

Jot also supported the Katkinz Cake, Coffee and Kittens day by making a special cake, which was held to support Jane in her continued recovery from breast cancer.

The grass seed season has continued to keep us busy, with 38 grass seed cases so far this summer! We have also seen some other unusual things, including a two-inch thorn which was removed from Jet’s paw. Please continue to check your dog carefully after walks to make sure they aren’t hiding anything in their paws or ears.

Finally, we are very happy to see lovely Dory making a good recovery after coming to us very unwell. She had severe swelling in both of her back legs and came to us as a third opinion. We discovered that she wasn’t able to clot properly, causing her to bleed into her legs and under her skin. After a lot of intensive treatment from us and her owners, she is now back to her happy self.

Thank you all!
